The fashion world is a fickle old beast. Whilst there’s no denying that it can throw up some real belters, some fashion statements really do look rather silly with hindsight (helloooo, Mr Tracksuit). Fortunately, leather wallets never actually really left, which makes them a very good purchase, That, and the following reasons:

First of all, leather is durable as hell. If you’re someone who is frequently capable of absolutely destroying objects purely through your own clumsiness (and I really feel your pain), then it pays to have a wallet that can safely endure a bit of a pounding without ripping and tearing. Fortunately enough, that means leather. The hide is well known for being able to take punishment, which is part of the reason that hell’s angels use it to protect themselves if they come flying off the bike at 90mph. Not that we’re suggesting you do that with your wallet, obviously.

Secondly, it’s always worth bearing in mind that leather never really goes out of fashion. Whilst fashion is a fickle mistress (again, hello Mr Tracksuit) there are certain things that would cause the ravens to abandon the tower of London if they were ever considered ‘out of style’. The black suit is one. The slinky dress is another. Leather, in general, is the last. Aside from some disturbing Lady Gaga inventions, it’s virtually impossible for leather fashion accessories to not look the part. That is exactly the case with leather wallets.

Finally, it’s always worth taking into account the fact that as well as rarely looking hideously out of fashion, leather is typically something that is very versatile. Whether you’re out on the town in your casuals, or indulging in a black tie dinner, a good old fashioned leather wallet will never see you looking silly. You can’t really go wrong with them, in the end!
